Theory of youth culture has been used to understand the process of creating your own identity and the importance of belonging to a group. The spirit of community is important when you are about to test a new identity. The individuals on Zebraforum are standing in a crossroad where the alternatives are a new healthy identity or continuing to harm themselfs. On one hand they want to quit the self mutilation behavior but on the other hand the harms have become a part of them and are a symbol of who they are, and there is a fear and a sadness to leave that identity that has been a part of them for a long time. The conclusion of this aim is that Zebraforum is used as a base by the women. On Zebraforum they are apart of a community where they can feel safe and they are suporting each other in ups and downs and this safety and confirmation that they give one another is important when they are about to create a new identity without harms.
