- Abstract
- Older and normally more low-scale buildings are from a historical and cultural perspective in need to be preserved. But these older buildings are often also perceived as contributing to more beauty-oriented values to an urban environment, so called charm. For these reasons, new building development projects should be designed in such a way that these qualities are not destroyed. This study has through a case study and interviews shown that there are different approaches and methods to achieve this, with completely different results as a consequence. ? ? The similarity aspects presented and described in the report are scale, proportion, detail, color and materials. These have been compared in three cases of infill that have been selected for further analysis based on the following criteria; built in the 2000s in an 18th century Helsingborg neighborhood and in scale with a possible building project on the property Pål Ibb 30 in Helsingborg. The three cases are thus meant to show the diversity of working methods that the industry shows up when it comes to creating infill. ? The study also comprises a practical application of drawing an infill to an 1800-century site in Helsingborg by the property name Pål Ibb 30. The result regarding design and degree of similarity to the neighborhood is justified on the basis of the previous arguments and described similarity aspects. ? ?
