- Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

- Title: Music education in primary school. A study of how primary school students experience music lessons and ensemble playing.
This study is about how young people perceive the subject of music in the elementary school years 8 and 9. My own interest for both young people and playing music in ensembles led me to this choice of topic. The study is based on qualitative method, specifically group interviews with young people. The main findings are that young people feel that the teaching of music is different than teaching of eg mathematics and Swedish. Likewise, they feel that the demands on them are also different. This seems to be important for their positive assessment of the sub-ject of music and ensemble music making. Maybe, music... (More) - Title: Music education in primary school. Maybe, music subject’s more practical orientation, in contrast to many other subjects in compulsory school, contributes to this positive view. Sometimes it seems that the music subject is even capable to give some pupils, who are not too interested in theory subjects, opportunity to, through music making, present an attractive competence within compulsory school.
