Abstract
This report is a part of the course fire safety evaluation at Lund Univeristy and constitutes an evaluation of the security from a human safety point of view in case of fire at Kvarnbergsskolan on Värmdö.
A visit to the school has been made, where the premises were documented and the existing fire protection was studied. Demarcations were done, and then the worst plausible fire scenarios were assessed. These were studied in detail and on the basis of simulations with computer programs, CFAST and Simulex, hand calculations and engineering arguments conclusions concerning the fire safety were drawn. These conclusions were made from when critical relation occurs. The following scenarios are assessed and constitute worst plausible cases:

• Fire in the gymnasium or in one of the changing rooms.
• Fire in one of the corridors or a fire that because of fire gas dissemination can influence this.
• Fire in the technology ward
In all cases, the assessment is done that the current fire safety has certain deficiencies and that accidents can happen. Therefore, proposals are given on improvements where the most important changes are considered to be the following:
• Installation of automatic fire and evacuation alarm
• Increased amount, and more regular placement of smoke detectors
• Improvements of the current fire cell boundaries
In addition to these additional proposals are given for the respective fire scenarios. For example: installation of automatic door closers, more fire extinguishers and additional fire cells. (Less)
