Marknadsval och strategiutveckling för ett litet företag i inledningsfasen av internationaliseringsprocessen

- Abstract
- Adela Innovation is a company in a situation similar to many other small and medium sized
enterprises in Sweden today. The question about internationalisation is important because the
development on the Swedish market is declining, but the company still is very small in an
international context. Adela Innovation needs to find markets to enter, that are of an appropriate
size and that don’t require too much processing. With this, the purpose with the thesis

was: to explore how a successful strategy for a small company in the introductory phase of the
internationalisation process can be formulated. The purpose was then parted into two partial
purposes: to identify selection criteria too choose appropriate markets and to explore appropriate
entry modes for the selected markets. We chose to limit our search to Europe considering
the timeframe of the thesis.
The thesis is written with two empirical parts and two analysing parts. In the first empirical
part we chose, from the theoretical frame of reference and a study of the goal and current
situation of Adela Innovation, a number of variables within which we collected macro economical
data for all the countries in Europe. In the first analysing part a first screening was
carried out, where a system of scoring and weighting ranked the countries. The highest ranked
countries were selected to continue to the next phase. Micro economical data for all countries,
with emphasise on the previously highest ranked countries, were collected and in the final
analysing part a discussion was held about which countries are most promising for Adela Innovation.
The final analysis was supported by more empirical data about the costumers and
middlemen of Adela Innovation as well as the competitive set focusing on substitution on
each market.
The analysis led to a proposition on how the company should relate to each market. The most
interesting markets also have a proposition for entry modes. Finally an order of priority is
constructed, where the markets are prioritised with time and limited resources under consideration (Less)
