Abstract
Banverket owns The Citytunnel Project and it is an infrastructure solution that is going to
connect railway from Malmö with railway to Trelleborg, Ystad and Copenhagen.
The goal for Banverket is to request that the offer include a complete Life Cycle Cost analyse
with the purchasing of technical installations.
The purpose of this master thesis is to create a general LCC-model who is going to be the
base for further purchasing of technical installations for The Citytunnel Project. From the
general model there shall be possible to create specific models for different purpose. The
master thesis shall also apply the model in two different cases to determine the models
validity.

connect railway from Malmö with railway to Trelleborg, Ystad and Copenhagen.

The purpose of this master thesis is to create a general LCC-model who is going to be the
base for further purchasing of technical installations for The Citytunnel Project. From the
general model there shall be possible to create specific models for different purpose. The
master thesis shall also apply the model in two different cases to determine the models
validity.
An LCC-model is a cost model that is built on simplification of the reality that you desire to
study. The fundamental idea of LCC is to try to make known the total cost of a machine or a
system during the whole lifetime. The LCC-model can be simple or complex but in most
cases you intend to make the model easy to understand and to use. The degree of details for
the model is depending on with which intention the model shall be used.
The master thesis has continually verified the work by collecting information from interviews
and literature. The study includes two phases; phase one is to create the general LCC-model
and phase two includes using the model in two specified cases. In phase one, during the
preparation, relevant knowledge was revealed and that made it possible to create an LCCmodel
who was going to be the base for future work.
The master thesis also describes how a purchasing can be done in favour of the law of public
purchasing and in what extends the LCC can be used in different contracts. The study is also
going to explain how a refrigerating machine and a ventilation system is working and what
conditions there is going to be in the room where these technical devises shall be in the
tunnel.
The master thesis has come to the conclusion and recommendation that the general LCCmodel
can both be used to be a foundation for specific models but also as a base for further
discussions about maintenance, dependability and erroneous with the supplier.
The master thesis is not able to satisfy the hay demands of reliability and in some extend the
validity in the statistics calculations because of too few supplier was participating in the study.
The thesis recommends that: (Less)
