Trafficking in human beings for the purpose of sexual exploitation is today considered more profitable than drug trafficking because a sex slave can be sold up to 10, 15 or 20 times a day. Trafficking offenders takes no account if there is a child or an adult that is sold and because children are more vulnerable there is more common that they end up in human trafficking.
On 5th April 2011 the European Council and the European Parliament organized a meeting to produce a new trafficking directive. The new directive refers to the new measures for prevention of human trafficking and new measures for the protection of trafficking victims. The purpose of my essay is to analyze whether the European agreements and directives prioritize the prevention of trafficking and protection of victims human rights. To succeed in preventing and combating trafficking in human beings we will need an international cooperation between states and different actors. (Less)
