Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the experience of different dimensions for the staffing industries and its flexible working environment as it relates to organizational commitment and internal motivation. Furthermore, the aim was to study the relationship between organizational commitment and internal motivation and which of the eight dimensions that most strongly predicts them. An online survey was answered by 50 consultants at a Swedish agency in the Skåne region. The results showed that six of the eight dimensions; predictability one month in advance, role clarity, support from manager, support from colleagues, positive challenges at work and control of decisions were statistically positive correlated with organizational... Furthermore, the aim was to study the relationship between organizational commitment and internal motivation and which of the eight dimensions that most strongly predicts them. An online survey was answered by 50 consultants at a Swedish agency in the Skåne region. The results showed that six of the eight dimensions; predictability one month in advance, role clarity, support from manager, support from colleagues, positive challenges at work and control of decisions were statistically positive correlated with organizational commitment. The two dimensions not significantly correlated with organizational commitment were preference for challenges and role conflict. Only one dimension, preference for challenges, had a statistical positive relationship with internal motivation. Organizational commitment and internal motivation had a slight positive correlation. All significant dimensions were included in a standard multiple regression analysis which revealed that control of decisions and role clarity were the strongest predictors for organizational commitment. No regression analysis was conducted for internal motivation. The discussion was based on the results about whether the staffing industries flexible working arrangements was the reason for the results that went against previous research done in this area, and the need for future research. Abstract (Swedish)
(More)
