(2012) SOPA63 20112School of Social Work
- Abstract
- The aim of this paper was to study how the Swedish society thinks of euthanasia. Euthanasia is not legal in Sweden today although most of the Swedish society stands positive to a legalization. Our study is mainly conducted using secondary virtual data. We have analyzed the information based on an ethical perspective and the perspective of empowerment. The main result of the study was that euthanasia is a very complex topic that many people have an opinion about. We found that the main argument used to justify the legalization of euthanasia is the human autonomy.
