Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
Abstract
This is an explorative cross-sectional study that aims to investigate which factors that are being taken into account when patients are being distributed amongst therapists before participating in psychotherapy. A survey was conducted among 107 psychiatric healthcare workers at seven adult outpatient psychiatric care centers in Region Skåne. The study maps how the matching decisions are made today and whether this differs from the staff’s opinions of how it ought to be done. The means of all factors are presented. ANOVA and Tukey’s Post-Hoc analysis were used to calculate differences between professions and workplaces regarding the matching factors. The findings indicate that demographic factors are the least likely to be taken into... (More)
This is an explorative cross-sectional study that aims to investigate which factors that are being taken into account when patients are being distributed amongst therapists before participating in psychotherapy. The findings indicate that demographic factors are the least likely to be taken into account, while research has shown that these factors play an important role in the outcome of psychotherapy. Theoretical preference and profession are the factors that are the most common to be taken into account although research hasn’t been able to show any conclusive evidence for differences in outcome in psychotherapy dependent of the therapist’s education. The study lacks in validity mainly related to uncertainties in the meaning of the factors and the design of the form used in the survey. Possible alternatives for future research are proposed. (Less)
