- Abstract
- The overarching purpose of this work was to measure the level of psychotherapeutic competence at HVB (residential care) for children and adolescents in Sweden today, to determine how many HVBs that say they offer CBT; the competence of CBT at those HVBs and how this competence is secured. Out of 399 registered HVBs 124 (31%) survey replies were received. Completed survey responses indicate, that on average there is one therapist with fundamental psychotherapeutic education or a licensed psychotherapist per five children at the HVBs that were represented in the study. Of HVBs only offering CBT, the level of competence proved to be even higher. The results presented in this thesis indicate that 68% of the respondents claim they offer CBT.... (More)

Of HVBs only offering CBT, the level of competence proved to be even higher. The results presented in this thesis indicate that 68% of the respondents claim they offer CBT. Many HVBs tend to offer a variety of treatment approaches in addition to CBT e.g. Environmental Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy. At HVBs which offer many types of therapy methods, the level of competence in CBT was lower than at the HVBs that reported that they work with CBT as the only treatment. Supervision proved to be an important factor for virtually all while the variability was large. CBT supervision was made by both licensed psychotherapists with a supervisions license as well as by therapist with fundamental psychotherapeutic education. (Less)
