Abstract
This essay is about democracies effects on war, in a world level view. The work is a quantitative study in which I, from the theories of the democratic peace theory and alternative theories to the democratic peace theory, am trying to answer my question: What impact has the percentage of democracies in the world on the percentage of countries in a state of war?
The question above is tested in a time-series analyze, where my hypothesis is that when the percentage of democracies increases, the percentage of countries in a state of war decreases.
The result of the regression in this essay shows that, with the data I'm using, the percentage of democracies does not has any significant effect on the percentage of countries in a state of war.... (More)
This essay is about democracies effects on war, in a world level view.
The result of the regression in this essay shows that, with the data I'm using, the percentage of democracies does not has any significant effect on the percentage of countries in a state of war. However, a rise in GDP per capita and a increase in intrastate conflicts has a negative effect on the percentage of countries in a state of war. (Less)
