Due to these change the national governments no longer have the ultimate dominance. This means a transformation in the responsibility of the sphere now in control of the multinational companies. And not just the economical responsibility of growth. Corporate social responsibility has gained larger and larger interest among business leaders, politicians and civil society in the last couple of years. A trend that contributes to the displacement of sustainability, a healthy environment and human rights and moves the obligation from public to a private.

Caused by the political need of business regulation, the UN has started an initiative called Global Compact. This program seeks to standardize a certain way of conduct among these new authorities. LEGO is along with a wide variety of big multinational corporations one of the participants whom has taken this responsibility. As a result of their high moral, knowledge and history made reputation LEGO has heighten their accountability and progressed the steps already taken by globalization with their signature on the Global Compact. Through this the Human rights are now to a certain extent an obligation in custody in the private sphere but only to the level of the local, global and intergovernmental acknowledgement. (Less)
