The results showed that the elderly's ability to ask for help is generally good and that the elderly want to take care of themselves as long as possible. The elderly who do not want to accept help have been independent throughout their life and therefore find it shameful to receive assistance. Having to ask for help from others can arouse different emotions in the individual, an experience of losing their independence arises and the individual may feel that they've entered a life crisis. In cases where the elderly are conflicted in receiving assistance, families can be very helpful and motivating. The results show the emergence of opposition and difficulties when the assistance officer is encountered with someone battling the disease dementia. Building trust and creating relationships among the elderly allows them to get used to home care or the social system as a healthcare intervention, it could facilitate the elderly to accept help.
