Abstract
This is a comparative study of symptom differences between Funktionell Family Therapy (FFT) and Treatment as usual (TAU) for compulsory care of young Swedish women, aged 16-21 years. Are there any differences in
problems/symptoms between these both groups of youth that can be crucial to where they get their treatable? Current research supports and admits home-based family therapy. Department care is at present more self-directed, and most young people, subject to compulsory care activities, are placed into closed care treatment outside their home environment. The study group consists of 25 young women who received FFT processing which are matched against 25 who received institutional care from the same SiS institution. All were... (More)

Department care is at present more self-directed, and most young people, subject to compulsory care activities, are placed into closed care treatment outside their home environment. The study group consists of 25 young women who received FFT processing which are matched against 25 who received institutional care from the same SiS institution. All were interviewed using ADAD, a method covering nine significant areas of influence. The data investigated have been processed with statistical methods. No major differences in symptom burden have been detected before treatment between the groups, both of
which are heavily symptoms loaded. The few significant differences noted are related to areas such as school drop out and drug abuse. However, these differences do not contradict our major findings. The result of this study confirms that FFT can be used at groups of youth with higher loads of symptoms. Our conclusion is that FFT should be offered more widely to this target group(compulsory care of young women). (Less)
