Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
Abstract
As the Business Intelligence (BI) market is growing, and thus becoming harder to grasp, there is an increasing need for companies to know what they require when purchasing a system within this field. The question becomes, what factors are important when companies choose this type of system? In order to answer this, a study was conducted in which five large manufacturing companies were interviewed. These interviews were conducted in order to gain a better understanding of which factors are important within the process of selecting a BI-tool. In addition, the aforementioned interviews allowed for us to crosscheck whether or not these factors complied with previous research. The most important factor for these companies is usability; followed by functionality, quality, price, and lastly, user training. The companies’ corporate networks also influence the software selection. Consulting companies, such as Gartner, have a strong influence on such selections. Furthermore, the system supplier plays a large role in the system selection process. (Less)
