Abstract
The main purpose of this study is to map out collaborative crime prevention measures performed by Landskrona’s municipal and police authorities to reduce the incidence of non-domestic violence. These measures have been compared with the findings of previous reports and similar studies on the prevention of violent crime and public violence.

While the study was performed from a sociology of law perspective, both criminological and sociology of law theories were used in the analysis of the results. The routine activity theory was the tool used for showing specific measures that could reduce public violence in specific environments. While the study was performed from a sociology of law perspective, both criminological and sociology of law theories were used in the analysis of the results. The routine activity theory was the tool used for showing specific measures that could reduce public violence in specific environments. An attempt has been made to explain how social conditions affect the judicial system from a sociology of law perspective, which in this case focuses on the indirect effects of increased tolerance and the consumption of alcohol on police work in Landskrona.

The study began with a review of a number of reports about the significance of specific places to certain crimes and possible police measures at these establishments, and studies of measures that were effective in preventing violence in public environments. The Swedish National Criminal Intelligence Service’s report on non-domestic violence and previous studies on crime prevention work in Landskrona were also used. The material in these reports was compared and verified with analyses of police statistics of reported cases of physical abuse in Landskrona and interviews with representatives from the police and municipal authorities.

The results show that non-domestic violence is primarily linked to city bars and restaurants. This also applies to Landskrona, where the clear majority of violent crimes were perpetrated at night during the weekends. An increase in police visibility and presence combined with training for bars, restaurants and nightclubs in the responsible handling of alcoholic beverages have allowed Landskrona’s municipal and police authorities to reduce the number of reported cases of non-domestic violence. When it comes to violent crimes, several reports have suggested that situational crime prevention that focuses on the establishments where the violence occurred is the best type of crime prevention.
