Abstract
This study seeks to demonstrate the relationship between the clothing industry and human rights. The company H&M is examined as an example to clarify this. More specifically the study strives to determine how and whether the clothing industry affects human rights as well as what kind of social commitments companies are facing today due to increasing demands from various stakeholders. The purpose with the analysis is to clarify how much influence companies actually have on human rights and how their social responsibility commitments can improve the working conditions for many people. These types of commitments are proved to be necessary since they increase the probability for workers to have a descent living standard.

This study seeks to demonstrate the relationship between the clothing industry and human rights. The company H&M is examined as an example to clarify this. More specifically the study strives to determine how and whether the clothing industry affects human rights as well as what kind of social commitments companies are facing today due to increasing demands from various stakeholders. The purpose with the analysis is to clarify how much influence companies actually have on human rights and how their social responsibility commitments can improve the working conditions for many people. The methods that are used for this study are mainly document research, qualitative content analysis and comparative method. This essay takes impression of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) theory. Furthermore, this analysis seeks to connect and compare H&M:s work with corporate social responsibility to the CSR theory in purpose to find a conclusion that shows what CSR really implies in practice. The result illustrates that CSR can be difficult to determine since it consists of many different aspects and problems in practice. Despite that, H&M:s work with CSR has proven to evolve in a positive fashion. (Less)
