The work is based on a focus group discussion with three women, in different ages, working in kindergarten, and thereby the group has a homogenous class position and heterogeneous generation position. The transcribed group discussion was analyzed with Laclau and Mouffes discourse theory. It was found that the women are aware of the inequality between men and women in society and that they believe in collective movement to reach equality. Since they connect feminism with negative loaded words that stand against their heterosexual positions they dis-identify with a feminist identity. They are also negative about the dominant gender equality discourse in society, since they mean that it underestimate the female values. They mean that career women let the female values down when they compete on male premises and that children pay a high prices for equality, when both parents are expected to work fulltime and have a career. Instead they advocate gender equality where male and female norms are equal valued and where men also provide care and altruism. (Less)
