Abstract
In order to examine the evacuation conditions in the case of fire at Gekås Ullared AB, a fire safety evaluation has been conducted. Gekås is Scandinavia’s largest department store with 4,5 million visitors a year. Three different scenarios were analyzed and simulated in the programs FDS and Simulex. The time to critical conditions were compared with the total evacuation time to see if the requirements for fire safety were fulfilled. The conclusion is that some important measures have to be taken at Gekås Ullared AB to secure safe evacuation conditions. Measures that shall be taken are as follows:

- The evacuation alarm shall start when two detectors activates.
- Optical alarms shall be installed in restrooms.
