Abstract
Problem description: An optimal layout shall be developed for the plant with respect to the flows of materials, products and staff with consideration to the business, shipping and future expandability. The layout proposal falls into two groups that will interact: proposals for the design of the building and proposals for the layout inside the building.

Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to develop an appropriate layout for a new factory building, and suggest the placement of it in order to achieve the most efficient production possible. The activities of the existing buildings shall also be reviewed to find possible improvements.

Methods: This project is carried out using the SLP (systematic local planning) method, which consists... (More)
Problem description: An optimal layout shall be developed for the plant with respect to the flows of materials, products and staff with consideration to the business, shipping and future expandability.

Methods: This project is carried out using the SLP (systematic local planning) method, which consists of eight steps: production analysis, functional classification, regression analysis, context diagrams, block layout, the main layout, evaluation, and the detailed layout.

Conclusions: Five main layout proposals have been developed. By following a simple risk management process, a detailed risk analysis is carried out for this real estate project. Potential risks are identified, analyzed and finally possible actions to reduce the risks. The five proposals, together with the risk analysis, constitute the result of the thesis. (Less)
