Abstract (Swedish)
Project CAD: Importance and Relevance of 3D CAD Based Education in Industrial Design Field – a Degree Project for Master of Fine Arts in Design
This master’s degree project was carried out from January to October 2012. Project deadline was moved from the spring term to the autumn term as I needed more time to finish the research.
The viewpoint of the research was to focus on the main issues in the current 3D CAD industrial design software based education, correct tool usage and the workflow development. The goal with this project was therefore to find out if there is definite need for change in the current industrial design 3D CAD education and workflows.

The viewpoint of the research was to focus on the main issues in the current 3D CAD industrial design software based education, correct tool usage and the workflow development. The goal with this project was therefore to find out if there is definite need for change in the current industrial design 3D CAD education and workflows.
I identified a variety of issues in both the design workflows and also in the software education, based on interviews with industrial design students and the educational survey that was send out to several universities around Europe.
As a result of the project and the outcome of the research I present a set of refined workflow solutions and examples of how the current 3D CAD education could be changed to a better direction compared to the current system. (Less)
