Abstract
This report presents a study of the use of a fibrecomposite as an alternative to steel in reinforced concrete structures. Corrosion is a big problem for the building trade and this might be a possible way of solving it.
The new material, glassfibre reinforced esterplastic, is non-corrosive, lightweight and has a high tensile strengh.
In laboratory tests the tensile strengh was determined and after that beam tests were made. The results from the beam tests give worthful information about the proporties and function of the composite. The results are compared with theoretically calculated values and the differences are
discussed.
