Media and news articles can either be representative or just a fictional story to attract buyers.

The Swedish perpetrators actions are explained with bad social environment and mental illness. Whereas, the non-Swedish perpetrators actions are explained with a foreign religion and strong cultural bounds. This brings a debate about honor-related violence which puts a shadow on the violence against women that occurs ever so often.
Media makes the cases an event and puts a lot more background into the story about the foreign perpetrator.
