- Abstract
- Every human being has a value in itself solely on the ground that they are human beings. But a human being is not what you are first and foremost defined as, but rather, for example a “pupil”. The purpose of this essay is to examine whether the Swedish elementary school has the full potential of respecting its’ pupils’ human worth. In order to achieve this I have intertwined threads from philosophical, psychological and political theories about what a respect for the pupils’ human worth entail. It finds that the implementation of the components is conditioned on the teachers’ competence and since they do not necessarily have the proper education for their job I have drawn the conclusion that the Swedish elementary school has an unstable, complete potential for respecting the pupils’ human worth. - Alla människor har ett värde som ligger i deras egenskap av att vara just människor. Men att vara människa är inte vad vi aktivt blir definierade som utan i första hand kan identiteter såsom ”elev” komma. Syftet med min uppsats är att undersöka huruvida den svenska grundskolan har en fullständig potential till att respektera sina elevers människovärde trots att de främst blir sedda som elever. För att uppnå mitt syfte har jag flätat samman en teori utifrån teorier inom filosofi, psykologi och politik kring vad ett respekterande av elevernas människovärde innebär. Det har visat sig att komponenternas uppfyllande är konditionerat på lärarnas kompetens och då de inte nödvändigtvis måste ha den rätta utbildningen för sitt arbete har jag dragit slutsatsen att svenska grundskolan i nuläget har en instabil fullständig potential till att respektera elevernas människovärde.
