- Abstract
- There has been a heavy decrease in biodiversity due to different kinds of exploitations in society, contributing to a more homogenous landscape. With this homogenization the variety of important biotopes in the plains has disappeared. This is not only a disadvantage to the species themselves, but to the farmers, land owners and the society due to a loss of ecosystem services.
While many lesser biotopes disappear there has been an increase of new biotopes in areas like sand pits, roadsides and power lines where infrastructure has been founded. These environments may be of importance for several species in the otherwise homogeneous landscape. On behalf of Svedala municipality I have investigated an area with three recently established wind turbines in order to find out what biotopes is already in the area and what possibilities there is to establish new biotopes. These new biotopes will benefit the biodiversity in the area and thus increasing the possibilities to make use of possible ecosystem services.
During my project I found some valuable natural environments in the area. By maintaining these and simultaneously create new biotopes there are good possibilities for a greater biodiversity in the area. (Less)
