- Abstract
- The raising of fur animals is generally a polluting activity, today and historically. This study is focused on the breeding of minks. I concluded that this is an industry that has significantly polluting places it have been active on.
The main and most interesting source of contamination is the use of pesticides, which always has been frequently used. The pesticides used often entail very high risks for both human health and the environment. Most distinctive was the use of DDT, which was used for 20 years, until the 1970s, on generally all farms.

The inspected object on Listerlandet, Sölvesborg community, is no exception to this. Even there, the use of pesticides has been great. During the farm´s approximately 60-year active period have a variety of chemicals for vermin control been used.
It is important to do further research on this industry, in order to determine the situation and investigate whether any risks to human health and the environment exists or not. (Less)
