Abstract
This study aims to discuss the cultural ideas concerning marriage from a critical point of view. The material investigated is newspaper articles from the year 2008 when a law proposition to introduce gay marriage was being debated. As a final discussion, I elaborate on the concept of an imagined form with a supposed content. My conclusion suggests that to maintain the idea of marriage as the most desirable form for relations between couples, a separation of form and content is not possible. When such a deconstruction is done, marriage’s hegemonic position could be renegotiated. (Less)
