- Interaction and interplaying - a study of stringorchestras in municipal
schools of music.
The purpose of this study is to investigate how stringteachers within the municipal school of music thinks and discuss the topic interplay in the schools' string orchestras. The study focuses on youths beetween the age of 13-16 years old and is written from a violin teachers point of view. In addition an image of the orchestral activities at municipal schools of music in general is presented with an aspect about how it’s affected by traditions witin teaching methods. The purpose of this study is to investigate how stringteachers within the municipal school of music thinks and discuss the topic interplay in the schools' string orchestras. The study focuses on youths beetween the age of 13-16 years old and is written from a violin teachers point of view. In addition an image of the orchestral activities at municipal schools of music in general is presented with an aspect about how it’s affected by traditions witin teaching methods. The study is based upon qualitative interviews, and three interviews with three different string teachers who works in the municipal school of music. The result shows that interplay in orchestral studies can be divided into two different subcategories; the social interplay and the musical interplay. To advance the interplay the teacher
must have knowledge about practical solutions to difficulties within orchestral studies. Further on a connection beetween these solutions and the two subcategories must be done for the teacher to be able to create and constuct their own exercises to fit every specific youth orchestra. Kvalitativa forskningsintervjuer har använts som datainsamling och tre intervjuer har genomförts med tre informanter som alla undervisar någon form av orkesterverksamhet vid en kulturskola i Skåne. Resultatet visar på att samspel i orkesterverksamhet kan definieras genom två underkategorier – socialt samspel och musikaliskt samspel. För att vidare kunna främja samspelet i en orkesterverksamhet krävs kunskap från pedagogens sida gällande praktiska och metodiska lösningar på vanligt förekommande samspelssvårigheter. Vidare behövs en koppling mellan de metodiska lösningarna och samspelets olika underkategorier för pedagogen skall kunna konstruera övningar som passar varje specifik orkester och pedagog. (Less)
