Monopsony theory implies that the wages will be higher with increased competition at the market. The effects of the increased competition have been tested, by a Difference-in-Differences analysis, at the labour market for nurses. The method uses the difference between a treated group and a non-treated group to reveal the differences and effects of the treatment, in this case competition. The results of this study indicate that there have been increases in wages for nurses compared to the non-treated group. (Less)
