- Statistics indicate that people born abroad or people with parents born abroad have less opportunity to break into the Swedish labor market. An explanation for this is structural discrimination and to counterbalance this legislation on discrimination can be used. The Swedish Discrimination Act contains, in addition to the prohibition of discrimination, active measures such as affirmative action on the basis of sex.
The thesis explores the proposal to introduce affirmative action on the ground of ethnicity in the labor market in the Discrimination Act 2008:567 and the government's arguments for rejecting the proposal. A critical discourse analysis of the Government's reasons indicates a resistance to recognize structural discrimination and...
