We used Håkan Hydén´s reasoning about norms and Jürgen Habermas´ theory regarding the systemworld and lifeworld in order to categorize and analyzed the norms we have identified. We have concluded that there are many similarities regarding norms concerning honor in the two groups. For example rules are regarding marriage, relationships, appearance, and the hierarchy within the group similar. But there are also differences between the two groups. Primarily those differences concern honor related to women’s sexuality, which is very important in families that have honor-related oppression but not in cults that have norms concerning honor.
