The articles was analyzed with theoretical discourse analysis and queer theory and showed that the newspapers creates a discourse that says contraception is used by women to prevent them from getting pregnant. The discourse also creates a way of defining sexuality and sexual practice as heterosexual and the sexual practice associated with contraception as an intercourse between a woman and a man. The articulations are formed by a heterosexual matrix, which explain women and men as each others opposites and makes them the only two sex/gender identities possible to identify one self as. A few articulations that challenge the main discourse shows possible ways of define contraception as something that not only applies to birth control but also something that prevents you from getting a sexual transmitted infection.
