Furthermore, the aim was to examine what social workers think about available work manuals in relation to honour related cases. The method used in this study was a qualitative method consisting of semi-structured interviews. Five social workers in Sweden were interviewed for this study. The research we were able to conduct shows that there is no unified definition of honour culture, rather, the perception of the term is bound to context. However, the social workers emphasized two aspects which they believed were distinctive of the honour culture: patriarchy and collective oppression. Furthermore, the study shows that the methods used in honour related cases in respective workplace varied depending on the context in which the social workers work in. However, they all agreed that the best method to use when working with honour related cases is dialogue. Additionally, the study shows that there is an expansive fear among social workers of stigmatizing certain groups in the society when talking about honour cultures. Lastly, the social workers agreed upon the fact that there are many aspects that need to be improved in terms of working with honour related cases. (Less)
