- Abstract
- Lead is used in ammunition and is the main substance which can contaminate the ground around a shooting range. The contamination can be harmful to human health and the surrounding environment. The aim of this thesis is to identify the presence of contaminants from the shooting range in Kävlinge municipality. Substances such as lead, copper, zinc, nickel and arsenic can reach Kävlingeån, which flows a few meters behind the shooting wall. This study also investigates the pathways of the substances based on the conditions in the soil. The main focus has been to analyze samples from both soil and sediments around the shooting wall, but also to get information from interviews and literature. The result indicates that the substances in general... (More)

The main focus has been to analyze samples from both soil and sediments around the shooting wall, but also to get information from interviews and literature. The result indicates that the substances in general are below or on the limit for sensitive use of the ground. Because of this, there is no need to perform decontamination of the shooting wall today. However, the lead will eventually reach Kävlingeån and therefore future inspections should be planned to avoid contamination of the stream (Less)
