Abstract
This quantitative study explores the potential correlation between these two variables. This is based on reports that state the connection between gender equality and economy. In this essay three definitions of gender equality are compared with countries’ economic situation, measured in GDP per capita, studying both the effect of economic conditions on gender equality, and vice versa. The population group analyzed is Asia, and 43 Asian countries are included in this study. This study relies heavily on the data set ”Quality of government” and its Cross-section data. The analysis is demonstrated through charts and diagrams created by the author. Due to the extremely diverse population group, the results are not statistically significant.... (More)
This quantitative study explores the potential correlation between these two variables. Due to the extremely diverse population group, the results are not statistically significant. However, after excluding six of the richest countries, the correlation between the two variables is higher. The study also shows that religion is an important factor for explaining the level of gender equality in Asian countries. This study concludes that the size of the economy may explain some of the gender equality, but variables such as levels of democracy and religion have a higher impact on the level of gender equality in Asian countries.
