Theory: The study is based on theories and previous research within the areas of homelessness and the individual and structural factors that may affect the problem.
Empirical foundation: The empirical foundation consists of collected data, describing homelessness and the underlying factors that are studied.
Conclusions: Using multiple regression analysis, I have found that foreign background, economic aid, politics and population size have a positive effect on homelessness. Municipalities that, during the past seven years, have had left or right political governance, have bigger problems with homelessness compared to municipalities with mixed governments or power shifts.
