The latest research by PISA informed that Swedish pupils performances are lower than average among countries in OECD. In addition Swedish teachers have low salaries compared to other countries. There are researchers that have been analyzing the correlation between salaries and school results before but the studies are mainly cross-nations based. The explanation for the correlation has been that higher salaries attract more intelligent persons and these persons have become good teachers and made their students to perform better.
This thesis will discuss the application of this explanation on Sweden and propose efficient wage theory as a better alternative. The conclusion of this thesis is that the correlation between higher paid teachers... (More)

This thesis will discuss the application of this explanation on Sweden and propose efficient wage theory as a better alternative. The conclusion of this thesis is that the correlation between higher paid teachers and better results in school is correlated and statistic significant when applied in Sweden. The efficient wage theory could explain why teachers’ salaries influence the pupils’ performance. (Less)
