Abstract
This study investigated correlations between personality and work performance for engineers in specialist roles in a medium large company within the manufacturing industry in Sweden. 31 engineers filled in the occupational preference questionnaire OPQ32 and ratings of their work performance was carried out by an HR supervisor at the company. The hypothesis that the structural dimensions of OPQ32 would correlate positively with work performance was not supported. The OPQ dimension Psychological proved to be the only one of OPQ’s 32 dimensions which correlated significantly positive with work performance and the consequences of interpersonal personality traits is proposed as future research.
