Abstract
The aim with this study is to investigate the disadvantages and advantages with ADHD medication for adults with both an ADHD diagnosis and an addiction to alcohol or drugs.

The result showed that there are both advantages and disadvantages with ADHD medication for people who have both an addiction and an ADHD diagnosis. One of the biggest benefits with ADHD medication is that these people can get ‘clean’ and have a functioning social life. The main disadvantage is that medicine for ADHD is often drug rated, which can lead to an increased risk of an addiction. ADHD medication can also stop for some treatments, because the ADHD medication is not always acceptable during treatment for the person's addiction. We have come to the conclusion that there are no clean treatments that focus on both ADHD and addiction at the same time. (Less)
