- Abstract
- The aim with this study is to investigate the disadvantages and advantages with ADHD medication for adults with both an ADHD diagnosis and an addiction to alcohol or drugs.
In our study we have used qualitative methods through semi structured interviews with professionals from different organizations, including Addiction Centres, Probation, Social Services and treatment centres.
The result showed that there are both advantages and disadvantages with ADHD medication for people who have both an addiction and an ADHD diagnosis. One of the biggest benefits with ADHD medication is that these people can get ‘clean’ and have a functioning social life. The main disadvantage is that medicine for ADHD is often drug rated, which can lead to an...
