- Abstract
- This essays aim is to explore and problematize the process of organizational development, where the main focus is on the operation the of Communication Office of Malmö Municipality Culture Department (Kulturförvaltningen Malmö Stad). The aim is to further investigate how communicators and the head of communication practically apply theory in there everyday work.
The two main perspectives in which the essay explore the operational organizational development are the work with evaluation and theories from communication-, evaluation-, and organizational theories. The methods used in this essay are interviews and case study.
The results of this essay creates a view of how theory and practical activities can cooperate, where the results also... The aim is to further investigate how communicators and the head of communication practically apply theory in there everyday work.
The two main perspectives in which the essay explore the operational organizational development are the work with evaluation and theories from communication-, evaluation-, and organizational theories. The methods used in this essay are interviews and case study.
The results of this essay creates a view of how theory and practical activities can cooperate, where the results also can contribute to organizational development with communication activities in the communication office. With references to grades from a comparison with literature and interview material. The results reveals a complexity in terms of work to evaluate the communication efforts where aspects as time, understanding for the profession (and strategic assignment) and other resources stops the flow of the actual evaluation work. Other issues which the results reports are absence of clear “objectives”, simple evaluation tools and absence of knowledge concerning evaluation methods.
Today is the evaluation work with communication efforts not or very limited strategically used. Though there is a reorganization going on in the communication office, where the organization seems to move from a individually perspective to a more common and “teaching” environment. (Less)
