Tillämpning av BIM inom projektering av järnvägar i Sverige

Gustavsson, Markus (2014)
Programmes in Helesingborg
Abstract
This thesis is about ”BIM " , it addresses the problems and risks associated with the introduction in Sweden and how the expression is misinterpreted. The work also includes how BIM should be used to achieve profitability and how the different operators relate to it.
The Swedish construction industry is today exposed with big problems when it comes to productivity, efficiency, material waste and a variety of other factors. They are searching for solutions to these problems, and the answer to some of these might just be BIM.
BIM is still a relatively new approach, where the concept is all about reuse and smart ways to manage information through various stages. This is then often visualized in one or a few 3D models, instead of traditional... (More)

This is then often visualized in one or a few 3D models, instead of traditional engineering where it is made up by many drawings, thereby contributing among other things to a greater understanding to those involved in the projects.
The thesis is based on an analysis of the results, that have been obtained by a literature review and ten interviews with people from different stages and stakeholders in the industry, which have all in one way or another, been working with BIM . The result intends to create a greater understanding of this complex concept and a possibility to be used as a complement when using BIM, where it can give a hint on how a project should be profitable and how common mistakes can be avoided.
After analyzing the information given by the work, the answers to the following questions are responded to in the conclusion:
- What difficulties are there in introducing BIM in the rail project?
- What benefits can be achieved through the use of BIM in the railway project and who will use them?
- In what kind of rail projects is BIM profitable?
If a greater understanding of what BIM is wished before the reading of this work, then the readers are advised to watch the video "What is BIM ? " Published by Trafikverket on Youtube, which runs through the basics of the concept, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pjd6TYKd4o .
