Abstract
Title: Industrial employees effect on population development in industrial towns
Author: Richard Lundh
Supervisor: Jonas Nordström
Course: NEKH01 Economics: Thesis – Bachelor level
Keywords: Industrial community, industrial town, population development, industrial employees
Purpose: Explore possible connection between variation in number of industrial employees and variation in local population in industrial towns. Furthermore, explore if this connection is stronger in more geographically isolated towns.
Method: Econometric analysis on collected data on number of industrial employees and size of local population.
Theory: Employment multiplier shows that one industrial job affects more jobs in the local labour market. Furthermore,... (More)

Method: Econometric analysis on collected data on number of industrial employees and size of local population.
Theory: Employment multiplier shows that one industrial job affects more jobs in the local labour market. Furthermore, theory shows that there can be a connection between number of employment opportunities and migration. Theory shows a possible connection between variation in industrial employees and population.
Conclusion: For the sample, there is a connection in variation in industrial employees and variation in local population. There is however, no clear sign of a stronger connection in more geographical isolated towns for this sample. (Less)

(More)

(Less)
