We aimed to study the school counselors’ view regarding cyberbullying, also their opinion on the responsibility the school has on the matter. We also wanted to see if there was any link between the schools responsibility and actions towards the complicity that surrounds cyberbullying. To research this we based our study on semi-structured interviews with six school counselors from different schools in the middle part of Sweden. To analyze our results we used Potter´s discourse psychology. According to this theory, speech and action are inseparable and are always dependable of each other. This theory describes how we express ourselves and how we describe objects and events that affect how we take action in different situations. This allows Potter´s theory to be applicable on the subject and lets us study the perception and experience of how cyberbullying affects the schools responsibility. The theory also lets us study the connection between the responsibilities the school has along with the already existing work against cyberbullying or the lack of it. The results showed that the more knowledge and experience they had concerning cyberbullying, the more awareness they seemed to have. We also found that the level of responsibility reflects how the school handles the issues presented by cyberbullying, or the lack of work against it.
