Abstract
This study is a survey of the bottom life of Hjälmsjön outside Örkelljunga in Skåne. The municipal and a row society are going to make an application for permission to dredge the bottom in order to increase the depth up to two meters depth. In the application they need a description of the area including which species live on the bottom and what the ecological status is for the lake. I have sampled five samples each from three areas that will be affected by the dredging project and five samples each from three similar areas that will be left unaffected by the dredging project. All animals were typed and the different taxa gave different points in two systems to measure the ecological quality called ASPT and MILA. ASPT is for Average Score... (More)
This study is a survey of the bottom life of Hjälmsjön outside Örkelljunga in Skåne. ASPT is for Average Score Per Taxon, it is an index to measure the sensitivity of the bottom fauna. A higher score means more sensitive species and a lower score means more tolerant species. MILA is for Multimetric Index for Lake Acidification, it is based on different groups of animals that work as indicators for the acidity in the lake.
The ASPT-number for the potentially dredge-affected areas was 1.00 and for the unaffected area 1.05. Both numbers means high ecological status.
The MILA-number for the potentially dredge-affected areas was 0.65 and for the unaffected area 0.62. Both numbers means moderately acetic and that equals good ecological status.
Totally 19 different taxa were found and 201 heads. No endangered species were found. (Less)
