Abstract
Much research which focuses on work related stress has been conducted in the field of organisational psychology, but few studies have examined students. The purpose of this study was to examine if stress as quantitative demands is related to poor health among students. Another purpose was to study if instrumental and emotional support as copingstrategies is related to lower levels of poor health and if any of the two types of support interact with demands to explain variance levels of students’ poor health. A survey was answered by 97 students (47 women and 50 men) at different faculties at Lund University. The survey consisted of sub-scales measuring quantitative demands (QPS-Nordic), instrumental and emotional social support as a coping... (More)

The survey consisted of sub-scales measuring quantitative demands (QPS-Nordic), instrumental and emotional social support as a coping strategy (COPE Inventory) and poor health (GHQ-12). The results showed a positive significant relation between perceived demands and poor health among the students. Furthermore the results showed that seeking instrumental support was not related to poor health and that emotional support was related to poor health. When all variables was included in the model only the demands could be linked to perceived poor health. The results indicate the importance of noticing students’ demands and poor health and the need for further studies with focus on students. (Less)
Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
