- This report – is based on a case study – that outlines the importance of Sustainable
Business Modell in order to maintain and improve the profitability for small and mediumsized
hotels. The result of this report will be based on a small family owned hotel located
in Southern part of Sweden – Skanör – that has a fairly great reputation in the area.
Hotell Gässlingen is a small hotel with 28 rooms, three of which are suites, four
conference rooms and a dining room to seat 120. It offers excellent service according to
their customers. The management of this company – like others – is highly dependent on
the main economic factors on national and regional levels. The current business model is

Business Modell in order to maintain and improve the profitability for small and mediumsized
hotels. The result of this report will be based on a small family owned hotel located

Hotell Gässlingen is a small hotel with 28 rooms, three of which are suites, four
conference rooms and a dining room to seat 120. It offers excellent service according to
their customers. The management of this company – like others – is highly dependent on
the main economic factors on national and regional levels. The current business model is
mainly based on an operative level which works to some extent. The management tends
to run the business strictly as a cost basis approach.
The authors selected different theoretical framework – such as The Business Model
Canvas among others – to adapt the case company’s current business model in order to
obtain an overview but also to be able to identify and pinpoint the area of difficulty. This
report will stress the different crucial factors concerning the vitality of a long term
strategy for a sustainable growth. It will also provide in depth analysis of the obtained
statistics for Accommodation Industry on national and regional levels. Based on the
results – in accordance to the company’s business model – the reader will get a clear
understanding as where to place the company on the scale, based on the findings.
Consequently the study shows that a strategic framework, an action plan and market
awareness are needed in order to improve profitability and growth. (Less)
