Abstract
This master thesis was performed at the company Radinn AB in Lund, Sweden. The company develops and will in the coming year start to sell their first product which is an electric powered wakeboard. As the company not yet has started selling this board and it is a newly started company some information will be held as a secret to the reader. The wakeboard is in need of a control to set the throttle of the motor.
The purpose of the project is to develop a wireless control to be held in the hand of the driver to regulate the speed of the board. This master thesis was performed at the company Radinn AB in Lund, Sweden. The company develops and will in the coming year start to sell their first product which is an electric powered wakeboard. As the company not yet has started selling this board and it is a newly started company some information will be held as a secret to the reader. The wakeboard is in need of a control to set the throttle of the motor.
The purpose of the project is to develop a wireless control to be held in the hand of the driver to regulate the speed of the board. This paper will disclose the product development of the speed control. The design and technology should be constructed to suit the needs for the application. In the paper, descriptions of all the processes will be explained and so will also all the technical details of the product. The project is divided into three main areas: wireless technology, electrical parts and development of the case.
A majority of the time in the beginning of the project was dedicated to research and benchmarking of existing technology and products. Continuously through the project more components were found and more ideas of the end product was found due to the continuous research.
To make a finished product we needed help from experts. This part of the project consisted in a couple of meetings and preparing specifications for the engineers.
The project was ended with the design of the case and producing prototypes. The development of the case and production of prototype in 3D printer went along side each other. Finally the end product is an innovative and new design to fully fit the end user of the product and to fit with the board and the company’s profile.
The design is made with two plastic halves produced with laser sintering with a seal between both halves. The throttle is constructed with a hall sensor with a seal and is waterproof. To turn the control on and off the accelerometer notice the movement and can wake up the control from sleep mode.
Due to the economic situation of the company Radinn there was no opportunity to make a completely functional control. However the case, the electronics and the preparations of expert help from a consultant firm is all set for the company. (Less)
