Abstract (Swedish)
This study is based on four unaccompanied young refugees' stories of
their first experiences, and how they perceive their situation regarding the rights and acceptance as unaccompanied refugee children in Sweden.
Method:Qualitative research method. Four semistructured interviews.
Result: This study shows that unaccompanied refugees situation in Sweden do not always correspond to the reality that must be maintained. Unaccompanied refugee children as a minority group can be defined as a marginalized identity in the community. Children are dependent on the society and find it difficult to change their own life situation. This study is based on four unaccompanied young refugees' stories of
their first experiences, and how they perceive their situation regarding the rights and acceptance as unaccompanied refugee children in Sweden.

Result: This study shows that unaccompanied refugees situation in Sweden do not always correspond to the reality that must be maintained. Unaccompanied refugee children as a minority group can be defined as a marginalized identity in the community. Their opinions have not had a major effect on the decisions that made about their situation. The child is in a dependent position as an asylum seeker and the interview participants have not been informed about their rights.The social constructivist perspective shows that the Swedish legislation, norms and values can
be explained as the result of social interaction to maintain the structure of the society. The study participants' integration process is based on those structures that control the child's ability to cope with their new situation. In this study show that language is the most essential for the unaccompanied children to talk about their situation and identity to create knowledge and meaning in life. The child finds resources through various strategies to cope with their situation. (Less)
