Abstract
The aim of this project was to studie notions and methods we had as designers
to create emotional and long lasting product value with in a product. On the
other hand there was a real case from the company Ocean Observation that
wanted to develop concepts around a basic phone with an idea based design.

The starting point was the question why we are not more attached to our
mobile phones, the physical part, when we are so dependent on them and there
inside? And the following questions become; how do we create a emotional and
long lasting relationship with a product?

The aim of this project was to studie notions and methods we had as designers
to create emotional and long lasting product value with in a product. On the
other hand there was a real case from the company Ocean Observation that
wanted to develop concepts around a basic phone with an idea based design.

The starting point was the question why we are not more attached to our
mobile phones, the physical part, when we are so dependent on them and there
inside? And the following questions become; how do we create a emotional and
long lasting relationship with a product?

The goal with this project was to sort out some notions around emotional
design, which methods we have as industrial designers to add emotions to a
product and to se which factors that is important when you design a product
that you want to keep.

There was a feasibly study made to discover the area of emotional design and
long lasting product value. The feasibly study included a questionnaire where
questions about the participants favorite belongings and their mobile phone-use
was asked. The result study presents the notions and methods explored, such
as personalizing, user experience, material value, memory generation, story
telling and sampling of conventions and how these notions affect the personal
product value both at the first impression of the product and in the keeping of
the product.

A case study was made based on the feasibly study and its result. The methods
and notions was then used in the design process when making a concrete
suggestion of a mobile phone with few and basic functions, the phone ”Inside
